Becoming Ms. Frizzle

So, tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life...what that life contains, I don't know. This evening I did get a glimpse that I did find my calling. One of the high school freshman at my church needed help studying for her biology final and I tutored her (at least I hope I did). It felt so great to impart the knowledge that I have spent years accumulating.

Brunch tomorrow with my Adopt-an-Aggies followed by the graduation ceremony at which I will be carrying the College of Liberal Arts' gonfalon. Let's hope I don't fall asleep in the ceremony!

Today I took my last undergraduate exam, EVER. Once grades get posted we'll know if I graduate Summa Cum Laude or Magna Cum Laude, it's a close one! In the end, I know it won't matter, but three and a half years of hard work would should pay off with something good.

I also thought I might have had a job lined up with Sylvan Learning Center but that fell through. Not worry, something else will come up.

That's about all I have to say for tonight.

So, I'm not exactly sure why I'm blogging. Maybe Niki's new blog inspired me. Maybe I'm bored. I suppose only time will tell. The first point I would like to mention is that I am a science person. "What does that have to do with anything?" you might ask. My response is, I will do my best to always maintain correct spelling, but Mom, don't get offended if there are a few run-on sentences here and there. This is not an endeavor worthy of literary merit. I think this may be a way for me to bounce ideas off of a silent sounding board to find out what I hear.

On to the introduction! Of course I already said that I am a science person, but it's much more complicated than that. As of tomorrow I will officially be done with all of my undergraduate coursework and will graduate on Friday. For most this would mean an attempt to join the working world (if jobs are available). For me...well, that's another story. On Friday I will be unemployed and done with school with no idea what to do with my life until August when I will hopefully have a job as a high school biology teacher somewhere in the great state of Texas. The current plan is to begin my alternative certification program in February and in the mean time find a part-time job that pays enough to cover rent, bills, and program costs while continuing to live here in College Station. The problem is the job. "The economy is improving" says Casper, my finance major boyfriend. I don't see it! All the jobs that pay enough are full time while the part-time jobs pay minimum wage. I know that beggars can't be choosers, but, dang it, I am (or will be as of Friday) a college graduate!

To sum up: I'm finding out what life is like in between college and the real world. Today I'm impatient. Let's hope that patience catches up with me tomorrow!
