Do you ever have a day during which you wonder if those around you actually do possess a brain, heart, or courage? Welcome to my daily world known as freshman teacher.
I'm not sure when it happens, nor why, but it seems that all of my students came to high school missing one (or more) of the three, and almost always the brain. I have now made it my personal goal to help my 129 students find theirs and begin to make good use of it. Perhaps we're part of the way there. Or maybe it was just a Monday....
I think I should aim for Wizard of Oz instead of Ms. Frizzle

Elphaba is my role. If you must, you have to be Gu-Linda, the good witch!
Mom, I'm not going to be Elphaba, I am going to be the Wizard!
Your new blog layout is super cute. I've been missing you around CS. I've not really been reading blogs much lately, so I back-read but it seems like teaching high school is a good fit for you despite frustrations. Glad you are enjoying it even if you aren't planning on being Mrs. Frizzle anymore, which makes me rather sad.
I was just thinking about that song (If I Only Had a Brain) today in dealing with my 7th graders. I even wished I had ruby red slippers to click three times too. I love the new layout too!! Looking forward to following this new adventure with you.
